Let’s Play for Hearts: Our Charity Match Was a Win for the Community

September 6 @ 9:00 am - 2:30 pm

Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD) may often starts with something as ordinary as a sore throat. Left untreated, it can damage the heart, and many families only find out when it is already serious. That’s why Faayo Community Heart Health Initiative chose to meet the community where it gathers: on the football pitch.

On 6th September 2026, at The Soccer Palace Nsambya – Kirombe, we held our Charity Football Match under the banner “Together Against RHD.”

Three goals for the day

  1. Raising awareness: Faayo members talked to families about the signs of RHD and the importance of early treatment.
Fig.2 – Our Founder Christine, Speaking to the members of the community about RHD

        2. Promoting heart health: Rheumatic heart screening was offered to attendees, with over 100 screened.

3. Building healthy communities: Neighbours, players and volunteers came together for a shared cause.

The final whistle

Quepasa team won the match and received the trophy, but the real result was a community that learned something and looked after its hearts.
